Would Make Great “Fountain Of Youth” Bottled Water 🙂
There has been a great deal of attention given to red palm oil as being a liquid miracle that will help to fill your depleting “fountain of youth”.
Not Tomato, Red Palm
One Of The Many Hundreds Of Red Palm Oil Products
Red palm oil’s red color makes you stand up and take notice. That color comes from carotene (pre-vitamin A) pigments. Some of the same pigments are also found in watermelon, tomato juice, carrots and pink guava. They function not only to attract our eyes but as powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants lower the risk of a host of disease processes and they may slow down the aging process.
No Famine In This Cage
Proof for a majority of the benefits of red palm oil was concluded from a 12-week animal study in the journal Nutrients, 10/22/12. Scientists fed rats a high fat, high carbohydrate diet. The rodents developed high blood pressure, high sugar and insulin levels, obesity and abnormal heart/liver functions. When they took away their passes to RodDonalds and treated them with tocotrienols everything changed for the better. Tocotrienols are a type of vitamin E found in whole grain products like oat, barley and wheat and oils like palm, coconut, rice bran and annatto. When tocotrienol oils replaced the RodDonald’s diet it reversed all the bad effects. In addition, the animals exhibited protective effects on their health. This would be similar to us frequenting a fast food restaurant for weeks on end to consume every meal. Next phase (6 months later) we change our diet to only whole grain products high in tocotrienols. But in this case, we are getting the whole food not just processed oil from the food. I would bet we would develop the same protective effects as the rats. It would just take longer.
We can’t base the benefits of supplementing with this oil on the evidence at hand. There is not enough proof, especially with humans. Manufacturers are starting to substitute these oils for the very unsafe trans and saturated fats. As more food companies reformulate their products with red palm oil, consumers that use the most processed foods will serve as society’s own science experiment. Changing oils could show up as beneficial or deleterious effects on health. Time will tell if this truly is a way to slow down the aging process.
Amazing Aroma When You Come Home Hungry
Save your money for now on any red palm oil supplement. Get a slow cooker (crock-pot) out, throw in some quality ingredients from the produce department and let it cook all day while you work or play. Getting a slow cooker will cost less than what you will pay for a month’s supply of red palm oil. And the final product will be a lot healthier and taste a whole lot better.
That Is so interesting, I’ve never heard of it ! Thanks for the info 🙂
